Your Privacy at FreeBrain.net
Last updated: February 15, 2026
Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how FreeBrain.net (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you visit our website or use our interactive tools.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide voluntarily
- Email address — When you use our tool export feature (PDF download or email delivery) or subscribe to our newsletter. We only collect your email when you explicitly provide it and confirm consent.
- Tool inputs — When you use our interactive tools (calculators, quizzes, planners), all computation happens in your browser. We do not store your tool inputs or results on our servers. When you request a PDF or email export, the result data is processed momentarily to generate and deliver your document, then discarded.
- Contact information — If you reach out through our contact form or report-an-issue page.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics data — We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how visitors use our site (pages viewed, traffic sources, device type). This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
- Cookies — We use essential cookies for site functionality and performance cookies for caching (WP Rocket). See our Cookie Notice for details.
- Server logs — Standard web server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and referring pages. These are retained for security and troubleshooting purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Tool exports — To generate and deliver PDF documents or email your tool results when you request it. PDF files are created on-demand and not stored after delivery.
- Newsletter — To send our weekly newsletter if you subscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.
- Site improvement — To analyze aggregate traffic patterns and improve our content and tools.
- Security — To detect and prevent abuse, including rate limiting on our export features (10 requests per hour per IP, 3 emails per day per address).
3. Tool Export: Data Handling Specifics
When you use the “Download PDF” or “Email results” features on our tools:
- Your tool results are sent to our server only to generate the PDF document.
- PDFs are created in-memory, delivered immediately, and not stored on our servers.
- If you choose email delivery, the PDF is attached to a one-time email and the temporary file is deleted immediately after sending.
- We log basic metadata (timestamp, tool name, IP hash) for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. These logs are limited to the most recent 500 entries and contain no personal data or tool results.
- Email delivery uses our hosting provider’s SMTP service. Your email address is used solely for delivery and is not shared with third parties or added to any list unless you explicitly opt in to our newsletter.
4. Third-Party Services
- Cloudflare — CDN and security. Cloudflare may process your IP address and set cookies for security purposes. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
- IONOS (hosting) — Our web hosting and SMTP provider. Processes server requests and sends tool export emails on our behalf.
- WP Rocket — Caching plugin that may set performance cookies. No personal data is collected.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.
5. Data Retention
- Tool export data — Not retained. Processed in-memory and discarded immediately.
- Rate-limiting logs — Rolling log of the last 500 entries, stored as non-autoloaded WordPress options. Contains no personally identifiable information.
- Newsletter subscribers — Retained until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data — Aggregated data retained for up to 26 months.
- Contact form submissions — Retained for up to 12 months, then deleted.
