Windows 11 will work better on older and less powerful PCs

Windows 11 will Work Better on a Less Powerful System

This is Why Windows Might Work Better On A Weaker System

Windows 11 has been with us for 3 months. Microsoft's operating system was not welcomed with open arms like its predecessor. Microsoft has improved many aspects in terms of performance, but inexplicably removed many of the Windows 10 features that are missing in Windows 11. Despite this, the company has continued to include new features, and they have added a very important one in terms of performance.

Windows 11 will work better on older and less powerful PCs

Windows 11 cannot be "officially" installed on computers that use previous 8th generation AMD Ryzen or 8th generation Intel Core processors. Among the reasons are several related to security, although the company allows you to install it even if you do not have officially compatible devices.

For example, if you are using Windows 11 on a computer with hard drives, or in general you have a rather slow computer, the company's operating system will incorporate an interesting optimization from now on.

This novelty has already been incorporated into Windows 11 Build 22526 available to Insiders. The improvement relates to the system's way of indexing file locations, which is used to find important files more quickly when using File Explorer.

Windows 11 will Work Better on a Less Powerful System

This is one of the main complaints that users who use Windows 11 face, as users find poor performance in File Explorer, with very high load times and even crashes. This is particularly inconvenient when using hard drives. Although the main unit of the computer is the SSD, if we have a hard disk with several terabytes full of files, load times will still be slow; Especially if we have many files.

For this reason, Microsoft has introduced a better file indexing system, as File Explorer will take less time to find and process the files we are looking for. The older the computer, the more the user can take advantage of this new feature, as the operating system will index more file locations to search faster.

Regarding File Explorer, Microsoft fixed another bug where if you search for a file, and explorer.exe would crash and reopen Explorer, the search function would not work properly.

All this news will arrive in Windows 11 from the second half of the year. Microsoft will maintain a policy of releasing only one update per year for its operating systems, which will help reduce compatibility issues and other errors that are often introduced when changes are made to the system.
