It's so annoying getting hit by a virus especially when you are a big company and you get hit by a ransomware virus. A ransom virus is when the hacker wants money from the ones they hit or else they leak all their private information. It's really cruel since the amount of money is always big. In this article, we're gonna tell you about some companies that got hit with the ransomware virus recently and what happened with them.

Ransomware attacks continue to harm many governmental and private sectors and companies, and whether this attack is by hackers affiliated with governments or independents, the goal is to obtain a very large ransom, otherwise, the data will be published if it is sensitive or deleted if it is important to the target party only.

In two separate attacks inside America, the American software company Kronos was attacked by a ransomware virus, which led to the discontinuation of the service of the best workforce management software that private companies and American public agencies use to manage working hours and employee salaries, called Kronos Private Cloud, where the data of millions of Americans was stolen and Kronos systems were encrypted, which led to chaos. In the administrative systems of working hours and salaries for millions of workers, causing fluctuation and interruption of employee salaries in many institutions. 

The number of affected is estimated at about 8 million employees working in various American companies, including PepsiCo, which owns the Pepsi brand, in addition to dozens of owned companies, FedEx for express delivery services, and the American supermarket chain Whole Foods Market. As well as 20,000 workers in the New York City subway and other government sectors, as well as the health sector that uses the program across the country, according to the American Heart Association.

In the other attack on the American city of New Mexico, the computer systems of the largest county, Bernalillo, in the state of New Mexico, were subjected to a ransom attack that led to the encryption and suspension of information technology systems in all departments of the largest city in the state of New Mexico for a whole week, which affected the state prison, where automatic doors and surveillance cameras broke down, which led to the imprisonment of prisoners in their cells and prevent outside visits. It is also no longer possible to provide the usual services and issue marriage licenses, and the property tax department has stopped buying and selling homes.
